2022 Caterpillar CAT 308E2

A used CAT 308E2 is for buyers who feel 305.5, 306E2 or even 307E2 are still a little light for their work, but do not want to move into a full-size excavator. It sits near the stronger end of CAT compact excavators, so I check it more like a serious working machine, not just a small landscaping machine. This model makes sense for heavier small construction, drainage work, farm jobs, road-side utility work, rental fleets, land clearing and resale markets where smaller machines may lose efficiency. The value of a used CAT 308E2 is not only in the model name. It is in the remaining engine strength, hydraulic response, swing condition, travel power, undercarriage and working video. CAT 308E can also be worth comparing when the real condition is clean. A strong 308E with good engine, smooth hydraulics, tight swing and healthy tracks can sometimes be better value than a tired 308E2. In used equipment, version name helps you search, but real condition decides the value. Because CAT 308E2 is often used for heavier compact jobs, I pay more attention to hydraulic strength, travel power, swing performance, final drive area and boom / arm stress than I would on a smaller 305.5. Small wear still matters too. Worn tracks, loose pins, tired blade movement, bucket wear or leaking cylinders can reduce the value quickly. Before quotation, I usually check: cold start smoke, engine sound and engine model confirmation; hydraulic strength under combined movements; swing / turntable movement, brak
